Le Nouveau dictionnaire d'A.Q. Buée : 1792 Etude d'un discours polémique contre-révolutionnaire

Abstract : This thesis is a study of The New Dictionary writen by Adrien-Quentin Buée (1748-1826), clergyman, polemicist and royalist during the French Revolution. His polemic dictionary, published in 1792, is typical of counter-revolutionary movement. This opus thesis while appearing like a textual monograph, contributes to the political lexis studies of the Revolution using lexicological methods. It focuses especially on particular central words which have many occurrences. Finally, it aims at identifying rhetorical figures and polemical processes, all the while mixing an antagonistic discourse with linguistic comments in a typical dictionary structure.
