Pynchon, Leone and Dynamite
Abstract
The essays collected in the volume "Thomas Pynchon and the (De)vices of Global (Post)modernity" (2012) were presented in their initial form during the International Pynchon Week 2010 Lublin, Poland. The collection examines the ways in which Thomas Pynchon broadens and complicates in his novels, ranging from V. (1963) through Gravity's Rainbow (1973) to Inherent Vice (2009), our understanding of modernity by exploring and reading anew various political, historical, and philosophical ramifications of the writer's heterogenous vision, in which modern scientific thought is interlaced with utopian sensibility, political insight, forensic imagination, and hermetic tradition.
