Résumé
On the Barnenez cairn, it is possible to distinguish the characteristics of three great universal archetypes. Firstly, the cosmogony of the builders, with a symbolism based on a series of oppositions such as North/South, dark/light or hot/cold. Then the male and female complementarity, with the structure evoking the universal matrix and the presence of a phallic stele reinforcing this idea. Finally, the foundation narrative, with the affirmation of the group’s identity over time through the building of the structure. The balance sheet is perhaps meagre if we consider that it is limited to the observation that the cairn probably belongs to the great universal systems of representation. However, identifying them is already a beginning of knowledge.
Sur le cairn de Barnenez, il est possible de distinguer les caractéristiques de trois grands archétypes universels. La cosmogonie des bâtisseurs d’abord, avec une symbolique autour d’une série d’oppositions telles que Nord/Sud, sombre/lumineux ou encore chaud/froid. La complémentarité mâle et femelle ensuite, la structure évoquant la matrice universelle et la présence d’une stèle phallique renforçant cette idée. Le récit de fondation enfin, avec l’affirmation de l’identité du groupe dans le temps via l’édification de la structure. Le bilan est peut-être maigre si on considère qu’il se limite au constat de l’appartenance probable du cairn à de grands systèmes universels de représentation. Or, c’est déjà un début de connaissance que de les identifier.
