De In Memoriam a Los Sesenta. Puentes quebradizos entre el exilio republicano de 1939 y el interior

In 1958 Max Aub put forward the idea of creating the magazine In Memoriam to Vicente Aleixandre. This publication would bring together both exiled writers and those who remained in Spain after the Civil War. Tracing the correspondence between the two writers reveals the obstacles they had to overcome and their common effort to implement an utopia —in the literal sense of the word— and to do so through literary work. Between 1958 and 1964, when the first issue of Los Sesenta came out, a huge endeavour was undertaken, both on the Spanish mainland and in exile, to reconstruct links that could transcend the havoc caused among the Spanish intellectuals by the establishment of the dictatorship. The analysis of these letters, collated with other sources related to this magazine project, opens the door to a reflection on the difficult conditions for building bridges and the very fragility of the links built.
En 1958 propone Max Aub a Vicente Aleixandre la creación de una revista, In Memoriam, que aúne a los escritores del exilio con aquellos que permanecieron en España tras la Guerra Civil. Rastreando en la correspondencia entre ambos escritores se nos revelan las dificultades y el empeño común por llevar a buen puerto una utopía —en el sentido propio de la palabra—, y hacerlo a través del quehacer literario. Entre 1958 y 1964, cuando sale a la luz el primer número de Los Sesenta, media una sucesión de esfuerzos, desde la península o desde el exilio, por reconstruir unos vínculos susceptibles de trascender los estragos causados entre la intelectualidad española con la implantación de la dictadura. El análisis de esas cartas, cotejadas con otras fuentes relativas a este proyecto de revista, da pie a una reflexión sobre las difíciles condiciones para tender puentes y la propia fragilidad de estos.
