Abstract : Ar Farvel göapaër has come down to us through a small volume, signed in the hand of François Nicolas Pascal de Kerenveyer (Roscoff, 1729 – Beauvais, 1794). The centrepiece of this many-sided work is “An Dovçz reuzidik à làouën / The Distraught and joyful lover”. Located at the threshold of the collection and taking up almost two thirds of the overall scriptural space, “An Dovçz” stands out from the remainder of the book by its belonging to the modern genre of the opéra-comique. The songs in the play encapsulate the intercultural and intertextual dialogue that underpins the whole work, and provide unique insight into the ways Kerenveyer experimented with language and literary form.
