The unexpected conversion of 1,5,8,12-tetraazadodecane-glyoxal bisaminal into its amidinium salt in an acidic medium
Résumé
When refluxed in aqueous hydrochloric acid solution, 1,5,8,12-tetraazadodecane-glyoxal bisaminal is quantitatively converted into its amidinium salt, which is a lactam precursor. The mechanism of this unexpected reaction is discussed. © Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co, KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2003.
