Valorisation des coproduits marins dans les régions françaises du Grand Ouest

Abstract : This paper shows the main results of the research program Gestion Durable for increasing the value of marine by-products in the Grand Ouest regions (Basse-Normandie, Bretagne, Pays-de-la-Loire, Poitou-Charentes). The marine resource industry, for its part concerned with the human food market, offers alternative biotechnological ways of using wastes. The evaluation of marine resource wastes, considered as a potential for new added value, is a first challenge. An assessment of raw material flows is based on face-to-face interviews with stakeholders. The geographical locations of fish waste stocks produced by processors, in the western regions of France, helps to identify pertinent territories for implementing a strategy to maximize the value of biotechnological by-products. Specific works are carried out in two territories. The first focuses on local public agencies and their role in terms of territorial governance. The second specific research reveals new by-product fields produced by retailers (fishmongers).
