Contrôle actif de machines de production mécanique par Internet

Abstract : Currently, the control of mechanical systems is local. In the future, with the development of new e-technologies, this control will be remote and made over networks, even unpredictable networks such as the Internet. In the first part of this paper, we present the principal concerns of such a control and we describe some existing applications. In the second part, we propose a generic software architecture to implement such remote control taking into account the unpredictable nature of communication. In the third part we present some implementations in Brest : in the laboratory of computer science, in the IUT, and active control of cameras with variable pan/tilt/zoom situated in the UBO and in Oceanopolis. In the last part we present some results of measurements performed during connections. It appears that active remote control is feasible even today on a world scale with good reliability.
