Targeting amyloid peptide using metal complexes

Abstract

We studied the cellular transport of copper complexes based on cyclam or cyclen macrocycles as copper 64 can be used as radiotracer for Positron Emission Tomography (PET). We also studied the transport of europium complexes of “dota like” macrocycles, as analogues for the widely used Gd3+ chelate-based Magnetic Resonance Imaging contrast agents (MRI CAs). The ligands used here, could be used as scaffolds where molecules able to recognize Aβ peptide could be conjugated (e.g. azure c, ANS or Benzofuran derivatives…).
