Abstract : The development of a new software allows to map all the surnames’ files preserved by the Institut National de la Statistique et des Études Économiques (INSEE) in France. At first, we take into account the surnames of people born between 1891 and 1990 in the five départements of historical Brittany. Concerning the Finistère, we can sometimes go back to the sixteenth century thanks to digitized sources of the Genealogical Center of this département. This allows to assess to what extent there is a movement or an inertia of the population over a period of several centuries. This analysis is invaluable and useful to understand better the evolution or the conservatism of the Celtic dialects in this part of France.
