Abstract : A fragmentary statue representing Neptunus has recently been discovered on a beach at Douarnenez (France). Its inscribed base, bearing a dedication to an otherwise unknow Neptunus Hippius, was identified in 1948, only a few meters away. This study provides a short examination of this monument, dedicated by a curator civium Romanorum.
