Summary: After a historical presentation of the notion of cooperation, then its philosophical problematization, this contribution will engage a critical reflection on the use of cooperation in education. I will first try to show how the trivial use of the term, randomly referring to a multiplicity of notions close in meaning, often covers up a reluctance to take on the radicalism that a more demanding conceptualization could reveal, and the practical implications that ensue. I will then introduce a distinction between some propositions of cooperative "innovation", and others, more advanced, that could contribute to a project of reorganization of the school model itself. I will try to support the reasons and the conditions of such a project, with examples of current theoretical and empirical research work.

Résumé : Cette communication se propose, à la suite d'une présentation historique de la notion de coopération, puis de sa problématisation philosophique, d'engager une réflexion critique sur ses usages en éducation. Je tenterai dans un premier temps de montrer comment l'emploi trivial du terme, désignant indifféremment une multiplicité de notions proches, recouvre bien souvent une hésitation à assumer le caractère de radicalité qu'une conceptualisation plus exigeante pourrait révéler, et les implications pratiques qui s'ensuivent. J'introduirai alors une distinction entre certaines propositions « d'innovation » coopérative, et d'autres plus avancées qui pourraient contribuer à un projet de reconfiguration de la forme scolaire elle-même. Je m'efforcerai de défendre les raisons et les conditions d'un tel projet, illustré par des travaux de recherche théoriques et empiriques en cours.
