Surnames and geolinguistics in Brittany : a study of concordances

This study tries to contribute to the linguistic geography of France by comparing historical records of surnames in the five departments of Brittany with other geolinguistic resources of the same area. In order to map these data, a new software was developed and applied to the respective data sets. The results show interesting concordances between the distribution of patronyms and isoglosses and/or isophones.
Cette étude tente de contribuer à la géographie linguistique de la France en comparant les données patronymiques des cinq départements de la Bretagne historique avec les ressources géolinguistiques de la même zone. Afin de cartographier ces données, un nouveau logiciel a été développé et appliqué à l’ensemble de ces informations. Les résultats montrent des concordances intéressantes entre la répartition des patronymes et les isoglosses et/ou les isophones.
